Why Choose Reykjavik?

Well, we happen to think that Reykjavík and Iceland for that matter, are pretty special.
Iceland is home to around 300,000 people and 120,000 of them live in Reykjavík - that's not many - and if you're like us and want to stay in a city that is as cosmopolitan as its European counterparts, but without all the manic hustle and bustle, then Iceland's capital is for you.

The architecture is a mix of old and new – corrugated metal-clad and timber buildings nestle against high style concrete structures, but that doesn't mean that it's a claustrophobic metropolis. Far from it, Reykjavík offers open space, allowing you stretch out and relax. If you're used to living somewhere where elbows are the best weapon in vying for room, then this city can give you a true sense of freedom.

In every sense, Reykjavík is a city in the country. Snuggled into a coastal bay with views across the harbour to the majestic mountains, you really can feel that you're far away from it all.
In fact you only need to travel about an 45 minutes out of the city to find real nature in the raw.

Culture is in abundance – there are many art galleries and museums showcasing Iceland's artistic talent, past and present.
Restaurants and cafes dotted along the main streets are perfect to sip a strong coffee and maybe indulge in some cake.
Shopping is a casual affair – no crowds here, so no stress.
